This week I had the pleasure of speaking to a really lovely guy called Charlie, who has set up Camp Kernow in Truro Cornwall, which does environmental adventures and camps, helping to educate children about sustainability through their summer camps and workshops. He contacted me as he wanted to give some of the children at camp bamboo toothbrushes. I think this is fantastic that they are showing the kids the benefits of switching from something simple as a plastic toothbrush to a bamboo toothbrush and the huge impact it can have. These little things will start to get our kids on board with saying no to plastic and the long lasting affects it has on our oceans and planet.
Looking through their website and Instagram photos, you can see that the amount of effort put into these camps is tremendous and really fantastic for inspiring children to learn more about sustainable living.
Kids get to sleep in yurts, bell tents or even a boat. I wish I were younger just so I could go and experience it myself, it’s something I think in this day and age of everything being surrounded around technology, it’s so lovely to get back to be basics and really be around nature and appreciate how lovely how world really is.
Activities include eco-energy workshops, green woodworking, shelter building, fire lighting and campfire cooking, there are so many fun things to do, your kids are sure to come back so much more aware of how great the outdoors really are and be so much more understanding of the importance of a more sustainable and eco-friendly way of living.
